Just a Friendly Reminder…

Survival Crisis Z is free.

Survival Crisis Z

Download SCZ (7.4 MB)

I haven’t had any luck getting it on Vista, but it works fine on XP.

Its an old game, but has garnered a bit of a cult following in its time.

Update: fixed the link!

Dude…me and my friends have been playing this game for days on end! if a game like this were Online Play or Multi-player…it would be one of the greatest games ever…its just so fun to play!!

  • 2. Alex  |  September 11, 2007 at 8:44 PM

This game has to be one of the best innovative type of games I have ever played.

I have a question, however. Has anyone else had trouble getting the haunt.zml game to work? I only seem to be getting the test game.

    I have two questions:

    1. Is it pure evilness on your part, buggy code, or a buggy download, that has my version of SCZ not working past Session 1? I complete the first scenario, and in the second on I can’t shoot anything or use any kind of weapon whatsoever. In the third one (I created a new character and started on the third) I can’t use my inventory. Are these bugs that were fixed in a later version (I cannot be sure of the age of the download I used, as it was a link on a forum I got to in a link from another forum, which I got to from StumbleUpon. This suggests it was quite old).

    2. Is SCZ now completely free? Because – if it is indeed an older version – mine is shareware, not freeware, and I am unable to purchase skills.

  • 5. Coprolal1an  |  September 23, 2007 at 7:54 PM

If it’s free already, do you have any plans of open-sourcing the sourcecode? So that fans can fix known bugs/implement new levels.

  • 6. Gazok  |  September 24, 2007 at 10:39 PM

Alright, pretty much answered my own questions by downloading the latest version.

    AWESOME game. Very well made.

  • 7. NeoMusashi  |  October 5, 2007 at 4:51 PM

im on xp and the game crashes on character creation. anyone has the same problem?

  • 9. bigfattyplus  |  February 3, 2008 at 12:14 AM

I love this game. It’s great! I have a problem, though. I played the arcade mode a bit and have unlocked somethings, but I have no idea how to play them. How?

  • 10. lukaj2003  |  April 17, 2008 at 10:51 AM

I can’t stop playing the game! It’s really fun but I have a few problems:

    1. I cannot open unlocked minigames, I don’t know what command to type in order to run them. Can anyone help?

    2. During gameplay, I get a quiet pulsing sort of tone that soon gives me headaches, the heartbeat background sound then starts up again and only lasts for a few minutes. Anyone else have the same problem?

Other than that, the game rocks!

I really liked this game. The best indie game i ve ever tried.

  • 14. Nicolas  |  March 11, 2010 at 7:59 PM

So this absolutely will not work on vista at all? Like absolutely no chance what-so-ever? I might go as far as trying to dual boot vista and xp to play this, i am seriously disheartened to find that one of my favorite zombie games for the PC or even of all time, no longer functions on my computer. If anyone at all knows how to get this game to work on vista, please contact me at: sonikku_52@mail.com

  • 15. Mr. Pig  |  March 22, 2010 at 6:54 PM

Howdy, if you haven’t had luck with vista, I doubt it’ll work on Win 7, so has anyone ever tried ME? I only have those two Win OSs in my house, the rest are linux, on which I’m not going to even bother trying WINE. Any suggestions?

  • 16. Joe Gomyz of Sylva  |  March 27, 2010 at 4:55 PM

I agree…If survival crisis z got a multiplayer version, it will be one of the most inovative multiplayer games!!!
and there are too many people in the search of a (good) survival horror multiplayer online…if ska studios get an association with a enterprise of the genre (like touch of death productions), have a great chance to concretize this dream of too many people around the world (like my brazillian friends!!!)
i hope that anyone can listen this foolish words..
    sorry for my english!!!

I got this working on Windows 7 64 bit by following these directions here : http://forum.tip.it/topic/246142-survival-crisis-z-zombie-survival-game/. Works just fine and ive had no problems.

  • 18. Coz  |  May 23, 2010 at 12:29 AM

I have windows XP and I can’t get this game to work!
All I get is a white screen and a cursor. When I hit the space bar, enter, or esc, it just closes the program.
I REALLY, REALLY want to play this game and have tried everything– a windows95 emulator, Dosbox, resetting my graphics to 256… NOTHING WORKS!!!!
Also, this is NOT a Vista issue! I do not have Vista, I have XP!

  • 24. 00509  |  December 17, 2010 at 12:57 AM

I’m not sure who managed to get GameFAQs to include SCZ but I took the liberty of doing a small writeup. Thought you might like to know.

[Didn't like to alt-tab and the minigames didn't exist (drawing some sarcasm) but otherwise worked reasonably on my Win2k tower. Blaster from the past, I know.]

[...] Survival Crisis Z by Ska Studios – A very different game in style and focus, more actiony, less Brooks/Romero inspired, but one that shares a lot in common with our Zomboid. The #1 cited ‘hey this Zomboid thing looks like…’ game when we first released info and screenshots of ours. It’s great fun and got a rather funky style to it, and is free. we’ve also just discovered it’s by the guy who made I MAED A GAM3 W1TH Z0MB1ES 1NIT!!!1 which is awesome! [...]
